Learning & Development Manager

The Learning & Development Manager is responsible for driving the design and delivery of impactful learning and development strategies for our own life-changing people at Lifetime Group. The strategies compliment both the Business and People strategy by inspiring growth and building future fit expertise across our talented workforce
What will you be doing?
- Develop and implement a strategic L&D approach that aligns with current business goals and long term business transformation, which includes addressing skills gaps, supporting our EDI agenda and measuring impact to ensure workforce capability and resilience.
- Conducting in-depth skills gap analyses, embedding robust evaluation frameworks, and aligning learning with workforce planning.
- Collaborates cross-functionally, influencing senior leaders to embed a learning culture and position L&D as a strategic enabler.
- Keeping abreast of external market trends, tools, methodologies and the evolving skills landscape to create a competitive talent advantage within the L&D strategy and in-year L&D activity.
- Ensure L&D initiatives contribute to building a high-performing, resilient, and future-ready workforce, working with functional leaders to understand their strategic goals and needs to tailor the L&D solutions available where possible.
- Oversees the innovative design, delivery, and continuous improvement of learning programmes, including leadership development, apprenticeships, digital learning, the Group onboarding event and third-party partnerships, to future proof the capability of our talented workforce.
- Collaborates with the wider People Team to identify talent development needs and interventions and implement L&D solutions that support capability building, high performance, and inclusive succession planning.
- Leverages learning technology including Learning Management Systems to enhance learning experiences, workforce development, data-driven decisions-making and operational efficiency
- Recommending and integrating suitable digital learning tools and analytics which drive innovation in digital learning where possible whilst ensuring alignment with evolving business and industry needs
- Accountable for the L&D budget; Effectively allocates L&D resources to maximise impact, ensuring cost-effective programme delivery whilst demonstrating ROI.
- Inspires, develops, and leads the L&D Advisor team (currently 1 team member) to design and deliver impactful learning solutions that support business priorities.
- Role model talent development in your team, driving innovation, and ensuring alignment with broader organisational and industry
What will you bring to the role?
- Significant experience in designing and delivering organisational learning and development strategies, programmes, and interventions—supporting both operational effectiveness and transformational change.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team or function, with accountability for delivering results and driving impact.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organisation and a consultative, solutions-focused approach.
- A recognised professional qualification in Learning and Development (e.g. CIPD or equivalent).
- A recognised coaching qualification (e.g. ILM, CMI, or equivalent), with practical experience supporting individual and team development.
- Experience using psychometric tools to support personal and team development (Insights Discovery experience is an advantage).
- Proven ability to conduct effective training needs analyses and to manage and leverage Learning Management Systems (LMS) to support learning at scale.
- Expertise in designing, delivering and evaluating inclusive, engaging, and impactful learning interventions.
- Strong coaching capability and advanced facilitation and presentation skills
It would be great if you had
- A pragmatic, solutions-oriented mindset with a commercial understanding of how L&D drives business value.
- Experience working with senior leaders and influencing strategic decision-making through L&D and influencing strategic decision-making through L&D.
- Knowledge or experience of apprenticeship programmes and/or the further education sector.
- Proficiency in using and optimising Learning Management Systems to enhance learner engagement and reporting.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with a structured yet adaptable approach.
- Additional qualifications in Learning & Development or Coaching (e.g. CIPD Level 5 or above, ILM, or CMI)
